New Docu-Series Examines the Unique and Often Complicated Relationship Between Mothers and Daughters

LOS ANGELES – June 20, 2011 – The phrase “everything’s bigger in Texas ” has never rung more true. Big hair, big attitudes and big drama all come together in The Style Network’s new docu-series “Big Rich Texas.” Following five mother-daughter duos, the show gives viewers a unique look into the competitive and privileged lives of these movers-and-shakers as they cement a place for themselves in Dallas’s high society. From grand Texas estates to an exclusive country club, “Big Rich Texas” gushes with tons of shopping, cocktails and indulgence. Yet, at its core, the focus always returns to the surprising and wonderful relationships between mothers and daughters. It’s universally relatable, no matter what club you belong to. The 10-episode one-hour series premieres on Sunday, July 17th at 9:00pm ET/PT on Style.

Throughout the series we see the ladies settle into the social season at the country club. New club members spark fast friendships — and faster jealousies. Relationships are tested when one of the mothers commits the ultimate faux-pas and begins dating a club employee, and a fiery debate on parenting erupts when one of the daughters gets a vulgar tattoo. There is also no shortage of romantic intrigue as ex-husbands hit on new friends and surprise visitors shake up the status quo at the club house. Despite all the intrigue and frivolity, these mothers and daughters have one very important thing in common – an unshakeable love and bond between them.

MEET THE BELLES:

Connie and Grace

Connie recently got out of her marriage and is ready to begin a new chapter in her life. Connie relishes her role as social chair at the club which allows her to throw fabulous events and always be plugged into the gossip pipeline of Dallas society. Her daughter, Grace, is a popular teen at her high school who is trying as hard as she can to achieve her dream of becoming head cheerleader.

Leslie and Kalyn

Leslie is Connie’s cousin and a jet-setting pageant coach. She owns homes across the country but has recently moved to Dallas to take on the pageant capital by storm and launch the pageant career of her goddaughter, Kalyn. Leslie is an unabashed, undeniable cougar, having dated the much younger Anthony Dorsett Jr., and an even younger golf pro at the club named AJ. These aren’t exactly the lessons Leslie wants to teach Kalyn, who has her own issues fitting in with the Texas elite.

Pamela and Hannah

Married to a gorgeous, successful husband and mother to two beautiful daughters, Pamela calls it like she sees it…and calls it bluntly. She is an accomplished author, chairwoman of the Luxury Marketing Council and the epitome of southern class. Her connections and influence make her a center of power at the club, and she’s determined to ensure her daughter Hannah follows in her footsteps. After finishing her first year at college, Hannah is home for the summer and Pamela has decided to make Hannah her assistant. What better way to increase her daughter’s profile in society – and keep a watchful eye on her. This duo should be familiar to Style viewers as they were last seen on the network’s series “Dallas Divas & Daughters.”

Bonnie and Whitney

Bonnie proves you cannot judge a book by its cover. She can party with the best of them, but beneath her big hair and big mouth, Bonnie is a professor with a PhD in biology. Her daughter Whitney, however, is less disciplined. One day she wants to go to medical school; the next she can’t imagine giving up a party to study. More like best friends than mother and daughter, this wild pair has constant arguments about who is “hotter.” As a self-made millionaire, Bonnie made her own way and thinks the world’s rules don’t apply to her…especially the stuffy country club rules.

Melissa and Maddie

After 15 years off the runway, Melissa is stepping back into the harsh and competitive world of modeling. From staying in tip-top shape to dealing with countless rejections, Melissa is determined to succeed in an industry she turned her back on when she had her daughter, Maddie. Maddie is now fifteen and ready to start dating boys, but Melissa is determined to keep her drama queen daughter on a short leash.

“Big Rich Texas” begins airing Sunday, July 17 at 9:00pm ET/PT on The Style Network.

The series is produced by Fly On The Wall Entertainment. Executive Producers are Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan and Spike Van Briesen, along with Style’s Sarah Weidman and Merah Chung.

Finally! I should definitley be able to tell peopel that i am NOT on the show since this release, what a relief! And might I add that it was smart of network to tame down the character descriptions this time, LOL! Much classier job PR!

  • lauri

I bet you most of these women are not native texans.

  • jhross1

why would they show a bunch of houses from highland park followed by pam’s which is in collin county… not even dallas county? as if they are in the same neighborhood…. that country club looks like a public rec center. what am embarrassment. Dallas has a lot more class than this… as you can see in the screen shot there is no city for miles… this is clearly NORTH NORTH texas…. dallas high society my butt. more like dallas social climbers 101… they’ve got a professor!

  • cita

Definitely not HP(Highland Park) where the REAL money is in North Texas. REAL money no matter what city they live in keep their lives and their drama in their circle.

  • TexasBreeze

Not sure where they dug these girls up from, but they’re not native Texans. Neighborhoods are all wrong for elite Dallas and Woodhaven??? Where’s that?. I would much rather see something I recognize like Prestonwood, but I think a class country club wouldn’t be a part of this. These people seem like big fish in a little pond up north somewhere. Real mother/daughter Texans don’t talk about their Ferraris, they show up in both of them at the front door!

The show is a horrible depiction of Dallas. Pamela Martin Duarte lives in Plano and was also an embarrassment of my city in Dallas Divas and Daughters a couple of years ago. She does have a nice house and Plano is a fine suburb, but it’s NOT Dallas. Connie is a Highland Park Divorcee, but she does not own Uptown Consignment. Camille Umland does. Connie’s daughter is a Highland Park High cheerleader. I feel sorry for her that her Mother has tainted her life with this low class show. Woodhaven Country Club is not elite and NOT in Dallas. It is a rundown 70′s club in a suburb of Fort Worth! Cow Town is a fine neighbor to Dallas, but are you really going to drive an hour to go to your local “elite” club? Their initiation fee is only $1000.00. The elite club of Dallas is Dallas Country Club (DCC) in Highland Park. Its initiation fee is $100,000.00! Bonnie Blossman Myer is a PhD professor at the University of North Texas. She does come from the gas wealthy Blossman family which has its roots in Louisiana. She has authored 2 books. I don’t see how. She appears to be a hot mess. If the Dean of UNT watches this show, she will probably be fired. As for her daughter, I don’t think I need to say more. She appears to always look like she is under the influence of more than the big jugs of alcohol sitting on their kitchen counter. She also lives in Denton. NOT Dallas. The show is a complete fabrication. Don’t waste your time watching. As an actual resident of an elite neighborhood of Dallas, I am insulted by how this show portrays the residents of this great city.

Wow…are these people for real. What a bunch of low class trashy women. Funny to watch and make fun of these people who see themselves as so high class but are either actually awfully mannered, rude, self centered and condescending. Especially that Pam woman and all the bratty daughters. Too funny.

  • caitlin

i love big rich texas its my favorite tv show

  • Name*

i just looked at the other coments there kind of funny but there mean

  • know it all

Michael you are uninformed and embarrassing to Dallas for saying such things. Also this show does not have Dallas in the title at all nor does it say anything about being in Highland Park. Who cares where they shot the show it is television you fool. Btw Bonnie is not from oil money her father was a doctor. Pam is the only person on the show who is real. How can you speak about someone’s finances when you probably don’t know jack ? baaaaaaa zzzzz

    • John

I agree with Michael. This show is a horrible depiction of Dallas.Do you really belive that the Dallas socilites would belong to a a country club in Fort Worth.
That is (D Class A). This show scans their cameras over Highland Park in an effort to mislead the public that these people are the ( BIg Rich Texas) socilites
that is a huge deception. As michael mentioned they live in the suburbs (Plano)
and the way these women act on this show is deplorable do I need to say more!

    • michael

Know it all, you are delusional. The show’s logo has an outline the Dallas in the background. They show the city, shots of the Highland Park and Uptown signs all the time. They even say “this is the most elite club in Dallas” which is actually a low rent club in a Ft. Worth suburb. Totally trying to portray Dallas in ever bad way possible. Pam Duarte is not classy in any way. She is seasoned reality TV skank. I know Bonnie’s Dad is a doctor. So what? Get your facts straight or don’t waste our time.

  • Michelle

I was born and raised in Dallas – imagine my horror when I took a first (and last) glimpse at this show! The Elite of Dallas go to the DCC. Before even being considered by The Dallas Country Club you must be at least third generation of vast wealth. This definitely looks like the cheese from Plano and Frisco at a club in a suburb of cowtown. The Uber Elite live, work and play in Preston Hollow, Highland Park and Turtle Creek. This show is EMBARRASING! Can it fast, along with the white trash!!!

  • new orleanian

    Texas is gross anyway.

  • Dale

Who cares about Dallas anyway, it’s not like the North where there is money everywhere!

  • Anthonette

I live in South Africa and have no idea hoe Dallas even looks like, but that is not the problem for me….its Pam…in my mind i can truely not believe that you get people like her, so what if Lesley is lying about her wealth, maybe she just want to be accepted, dont get me wrong i love watching it, but damn that woman is so so rude, and she is not a good excample for her daugther, because the both of them sits and gossip as if THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM….i JUST love bonnie, she is most real of all of them! A good friend!
