Tuesday’s Casting News: Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Scarlett Johansson, Denzel Washington, & More

Probably the biggest news of the day is confirmation from Russell Crowe on the rumors reported recently that he could end up starring in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah’s Arc adaptation, Noah.  The actor took to Twitter and mentioned that both he and Liam Neeson are both “eyeing” the film at the moment.

Steve Martin is a novelist in case you did not know, and the actor published a book called An Object of Beauty back in 2010.  Well, that book is getting made into a movie now, and Amy Adams is set to both star in and produce the film.  Her role will be that of an ambitious art doyenne who goes from assistant to gallery owner over the course of a decade and a half.

There is also some James Franco news to report today via Show Biz 411.  The Rise of the Planet of the Apes actor is currently starring in and directing Child of God which is an indie filmed based on a Cormac McCarthy novel by the same name.  The movie is about a violent man who lives a life that is best described as a disastrous attempt to exist outside the typical social order.

Deadline is reporting that 500 Days of the Summer’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt is preparing to make his feature film directing debut in a film that stars Scarlett Johansson.  The Dark Knight Rises actor will be pulling double duty as he plans to co-star alongside the actress as well in this comedy about a modern-day Don Juan who is on a quest to become less of a “selfish dick.”

Another report originating from Deadline is surfacing.  This one casts Denzel Washington alongside Mark Wahlberg in 2 Guns–a film based on a graphic novel from Boom! Studios.  The feature will be a reunion for director Baltasar Kormakur and Wahlberg as Kormakur pulled behind-the-camera duty on Contraband.
