Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah” Gets a 2014 Release Date

Remember that upcoming Noah’s Ark movie from Darren Aronofsky?  Well, today it received its release date:  March 28, 2014.  The reason there is so much buzz around this feature is perhaps the casting of Russell Crowe.  The Gladiator actor has not been in a whole lot of period features as of late outside of Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood, but he’s still the man when it comes to dramas from the past in the eyes of many.

Also, let’s not forget that Aronofsky is a great director who is responsible for the gem that put Natalie Portman on top of the Oscar heap, The Black Swan.  The movie managed to gross over $300 million at the low, low cost of only $13 million.  One could reasonably expect though that Noah will sport a significantly larger budget.

For those of you wondering why this project is still two years away despite being announced sometime ago, chalk that up to a busy schedule for Crowe who is set to star in several movies within the next few years including the heavily anticipated Les Miserables.
