A Firefly mini-reunion of sorts is at the forefront of tonight’s edition of ABC’s Castle as Adam Baldwin is set for a guest spot on Nathan Fillion’s lighthearted procedural crime drama. Baldwin will be playing Ethan Slaughter who becomes Richard Castle’s latest muse as the novelist continues to move on from the ‘never gonna happen’ relationship with Detective Kate Beckett. As for a full blown reunion, Fillion still wants that to happen as he recently told TV Guide his idea for that particular episode would be to have the murder of the week occur on the set of a sci-fi television show although he went on to mention that he screwed things up for that scenario by getting Baldwin cast in the role of Slaughter. Here is a clip from the appearance.
As to why this did not happen sooner, there is a good reason for that. Adam Baldwin is coming off of a five-year stint as NSA agent John Casey on NBC’s Chuck and cross-network appearances from actors like this tend to be frowned upon making such an appearance an impossibility until after the series finale which took place in January. There is no word just yet on whether Ethan Slaughter could turn into a recurring character, but audience reaction will likely be the judge of that.
