Eric Stonestreet may be best known for his television role as Modern Family’s Cameron Tucker, but he is about to return to the big screen for yet another small part in a theatrical comedy. The actor is reportedly joining the cast of Universal’s Identity Thief which comes from Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon.
No, the film will not feature disgruntled employees trying to have their bosses killed, but it will have Jason Bateman re-teaming with the director which is good enough for us. Identity Thief reportedly centers around a man (Bateman) and the woman who steals his identity. That second role will be filled by Mike & Molly actress Melissa McCarthy which means the movie is officially an award-caliber ensemble as the actress received many supporting actress nominations for her role in last year’s Bridesmaids.
Stonestreet will be playing a reality broker named Big Chuck who has a run-in with both Bateman and McCarthy’s respective characters. Previous film credits for Eric Stonestreet include supporting gigs in Bad Teacher and Father vs. Son.
Other cast members in Identity Thief include Iron Man director Jon Favreau and John Cho. Cho may not be known by name, but his facial recognition is there as he is one half of the Harold & Kumar tandem and also plays Sulu in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movies.
Look for this film to hit theaters on May 10, 2013.
