It has been a full week since the news that James Badge Dale had been named the secondary villain behind Ben Kingsley in Iron Man III, and it really had people wondering about Thor 2 seeing how the details for Marvel’s second 2013 feature have been few and far between. Well, this week we get some very early information regarding the movie from comic-movie blog Bleeding Cool which tends to be a fairly credible source for information.
Apparently, Enchantress will be in this film. BC claims that a reputable source informed them on the plan at Marvel Studios, but stopped short of telling them which version of Enchantress will be in this movie. Both comic book options place her as a villain, but one is spawned from Loki which would imply that the hell-raiser from The Avengers somehow escapes justice on Asgard in the sequel to Thor. This probably explains why we are not hearing much about this just yet considering the Joss Whedon-directed blockbuster is still red hot at the box office. The other version of Entrantress has her as a powerful sorceress named Amora which is a lot less sexy of a storyline, so one might be inclined to buy into the former even though the way it is set up has Loki’s manifestation mirroring Amora. A movie studio tampering with comic book story lines? That never happens…
With that being said, let us recap what we know so far about the sequel to Thor. Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor will be taking over for Kenneth Branagh in the director’s chair, the cast of the original (including Natalie Portman and Idris Elba) will be returning, and the release date is November 15, 2013. Look for more concrete details to drop once production begins in the fall, but for now it looks like we must settle for rumors and speculation.
