For seven seasons, Kristen Wiig regaled audiences with her diverse range and numerous recurring characters on Saturday Night Live. From Penelope the Attention Seeker to The Target Lady, she managed to bring a degree of feminine dominance to the sketch comedy series that no one else has managed to top in the show’s 37-year history.
Tasked with filling a void from the departure of Tina Fey and later Amy Poehler, the actress certainly delivered the goods, and that is why last night’s farewell to Wiig was met with much fanfare. The show ended last night on a rendition of Ruby Tuesday which had the evening’s host Mick Jagger leading the following dance tribute in which the actress took a few laps with her fellow SNL-er’s.
Goodbye, Kristen Wiig. We look forward to seeing you host the show once a year for the next decade.
