‘The Avengers’ Linked to TV’s Biggest Mini-Series ‘Hatfield & McCoys’ Through Powers Boothe

Most people probably missed this because Powers Boothe is not exactly a high profile actor, but he happens to play one of the most loved characters in History’s new Hatfields & McCoys mini-series.  More specifically, the actor plays Judge Valentine ‘Wall’ Hatfield.  Throughout the program, his role is that of a fair and impartial judge until the family’s feud with the McCoys drives him over the edge, culminating in a moment where he warps the law in order to satisfy his lust for vengeance.  It makes for some great television and had some wondering what else has Boothe been up to since his days on Deadwood.

Apparently, the answer is The Avengers.  You might have missed it if you were not paying close attention to the behind-the-scenes politicking of S.H.I.E.L.D., but if you watched closely enough you would see that he is none other than one of the World Security Council members who clashes with Nick Fury.  Way cool, right?

So there you have it.  Powers Boothe: the only actor in both the summer’s hottest film and television program.

For those wondering what is next for the supporting actor, look for him to make appearances in ABC’s new fall drama Nashville, a Ryan Phillippe/Anna Paquin dramedy called Straight A’s, and To Appomattox which is another Civil War-era mini-series.  That one will premiere next summer and has Boothe starring alongside Stephen Lang and Rob Lowe.
