More news today has come to light in regards to Darren Aronofsky’s biblical take on Noah’s Ark. Apparently The Black Swan director is casting up a storm for Noah as Harry Potter alumna Emma Watson has been tapped to play Ila, “a young woman who develops a close relationship with Noah’s son, Shem.” Watson will be joining a film that already has Russell Crowe signed on for the title role and a few not-so-well-known actors playing his sons (Douglas Booth and Logan Lerman.)
This is quite a role for Watson as the actress has been gradually building her post-child star resume with parts in My Week With Marilyn and The Perks of Being a Wall Flower. The latter actually has her playing a lead this time around. The trailer for that movie just debuted Sunday night at the MTV Movie Awards. Other projects in the works for Watson include Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring and a cameo in Seth Rogen’s The End of the World. Both are due out in 2013.
