Star Trek’s new Sulu is in the news today as John Cho has been picked up to continue on Matthew Perry’s new NBC comedy Go On. The actor played the role of Perry’s boss in the pilot, but it was uncertain until now whether or not the broadcaster would bring the role to the show full time.
Cho rose to fame via the cult favorite Harold & Kumar movies, but he recently hit the mainstream in 2009′s Star Trek as Sulu. Since that time he starred in ABC’s short-lived sci-fi drama Flash Forward and guest starred in a handful of other television shows. The actor can next be seen in August’s Total Recall reboot and soon after he can be seen in Star Trek 2 and Identity Thief. The latter is actually a pretty big gig as it puts Cho alongside Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy who are hot off their own respect R-rated comedies. Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is directing that one.
The following is the official network trailer for Go On with plenty of Matthew Perry and no Cho.
