Rumors are continuing to proliferate about what Marvel Studio’s next film(s) may or may not be, but here is one story gaining traction across the net today. The Latino Review is reporting that Guardians of the Galaxy will be the studio’s first franchise out of the gate and not The Black Panther. While that particular movie is still ‘in development,’ it would appear that Marvel’s first black super hero will not debut before 2015′s sequel to The Avengers.
Basically all you need to know about this one is that comic book fans do not really dig the property, but there is hope with its Thanos tie-in. The Guardians of the Galaxy are actually a group of ‘last of their race’ species who travel back in time to do battle with the villain which was teased in The Avengers mid-credits sequence. Of course, the assumption here is that the franchise’s first movie will take place entirely in some future universe culminating with the team traveling back in time to The Avengers’ universe.
Look for more on this soon as confirmation is expected to come out of Comic-Con 2012.
