Okay, so the title is a bit over dramatic, but the media is already perceiving Microsoft’s new tablet dubbed Surface as the first major competitor to Apple’s iPad which is enough to take note. The features are comparable, and the operating system is Windows 8 which was actually designed from the ground up for touch functionality as opposed to the familiar icon-exploding desktop.
The linchpin? A cover that doubles as a keyboard. Very impressive stuff. While I will not provide all the details I will say this is awesome and it is perhaps generating the most buzz about something Microsoft since, dare I say it, Windows 95. [Microsoft]
