New Avatar information has proliferated this week straight from Sigourney Weaver. Apparently, not only will James Cameron be shooting the second and third installments in the series back to back, but also a third.
This revelation came in the form of some press Weaver was doing for USA Network’s Political Animals. More specifically, the actress’ schedule was in question and she revealed that the series would have to wait should the basic cable network choose to pick up more episodes. Here is the excerpt from Showbiz 411 who is accredited with breaking the story.
Weaver says she has no idea how long it will take, or how it’s going to work. “I just show up,” she said. If “Political Animals” is renewed, USA will have to wait until all that’s over.
Add this to your current stockpile of Avatar sequel information which pretty much only includes visits to underwater regions of Pandora in the vein of the Sky Cliffs cameos. We also know some behind-the-scenes details as far as the excuse for the lengthy delay. It was not exactly all Cameron’s fault for playing with submarines as some might suggest. The director was actually waiting for production to get the technology up and running to simplify the process of making these films so he could rattle off several in a row (like three at the same time) should he desire to do just that.
