Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island is finally getting a cinematic retread for this century as Warner Bros. is gearing up to take on the classic pirate tale with none other than Guy Ritchie in the director’s chair. This is fairly big news because Ritchie is the man behind Robert Downey, Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes film franchise which is a billion-dollar property.
Furthermore, this new potential blockbuster was prepped by Ritchie’s producer partner Lionel Wigram who happens to be the man who stylized Sherlock Holmes. Are there any other questions as to what the studio thinks Treasure Island can become for them?
Stay tuned for more as it develops including casting news. We expect a big name to headline this new movie franchise for WB if anything good is to come of it.
