It looks like Mulan is headed for the small screen. According to Entertainment Weekly, the producers of the hit ABC fantasy drama Once Upon a Time have plans involving the legendary Chinese warrior in the series’ upcoming second season. Furthermore, the role will be played by Jamie Chung, an actress who spends a whole lot of time in feature films.
The actress is probably best known for her role as Lauren in The Hangover Part II, but she was also seen in Sucker Punch, Grown Ups, and Sorority Row. In terms of her previous stints on television, her guest spots included episodes of Castle and Grey’s Anatomy as well as Greek and CSI: NY. While no one is looking for Chung to ‘break out,’ she has certainly been around and her upcoming supporting gigs in Premium Rush, The Man with the Iron Fists, and 7500 might bring her closer to the ever sought after name recognition in the industry.
Maybe a recurring role on one of ABC’s highest rated dramas might do the trick. That would of course depend on how major the story arc is which could potentially receive some elaboration at Comic-Con later this month.
