Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Brokeback Mountain director Ang Lee has a new movie coming out in November called Life of Pi. Based on a novel by Yann Martel, the film will tell the story of an Indian boy who finds himself marooned on a life boat with only a hyena, zebra, orangutan, and Bengal tiger after a shipwreck in the Pacific Ocean.
If the trailer has anything to say about the shear quality of this film, it will be one of the best of the year hands down. The plot enables this majestic presence that Lee takes full advantage of to create an almost chilling experience. That said, there is no dialogue in the first promo out today which is somewhat disappointing; however, many of us are already hooked so it probably does not matter much. Bravo.
Cast members include Suraj Sharma, Irrhan Khan, and Tobey Maguire. Life of Pi releases into theaters on November 21.
