The first official trailer for the Dan Bradley-directed Red Dawn remake has finally hit the web. The movie stars Thor actor Chris Hemsworth leading a group of teenagers who seek to save their town from invading North Korean forces. While somewhat unbelievable, keep in mind the movie was originally made to feature Chinese invaders, but the studio elected to CGI them out so as to not hurt their international box office receipts.
This trailer shows a very high-octane, high-emotion movie that definitely takes full advantage of Hemsworth’s skill set. The flow of the movie will largely dictate its reception, but what we can tell from the promo is that action outweighs drama. Hopefully the geopolitical questions do not bog down the story to the point where such scenes come off as empty.
Stars of the film include Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers,) Josher Hutcherson (The Hunger Games,) and Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights.) Red Dawn releases into theaters nationwide on November 21.
