Christian Bale in Negotiations for ‘Creed of Violence’ Period Drama

Christian Bale is in the midst of booking his follow-ups to The Dark Knight Rises and it looks like he is about to climb aboard Todd Field’s The Creed of Violence.  This particular based-on-a-book feature would set the former Batman player in early 20th century Mexico as a criminal named Rawbone.

In the picture, the character finds himself in the hands of the Bureau of Investigation which pretty much offers him a pardon should he deliver a truck full of weapons to Mexican oil fields under the command of Agent John Lourdes.  Things get interesting when it turns out that Lourdes is someone that Rawbone knows from deep within his past.

The Creed of Violence at its core is said to be a saga about the scars of abandonment, the greed of war, and America’s history of foreign intervention for the sake of oil.

Variety says that this is far from a done deal as the production currently has an offer of $5 million for Bale and the actor has requested $10 million.  For actors of the sorts, these types of pay days are not uncommon so it is assumed that he will get the money when it all said and done or opt to do one of the dozen or so other projects at his doorstep.

Upcoming films on Christian Bale’s slate include  Out of the Furnace from Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper and two Terrence Malick efforts.
