Early Reviews Say ‘Expendables 2′ Improves On Franchise

Even though everyone knows that Sylvester Stallone has proven himself time and time again in the director’s chair, many people knew that a change up in command was needed to make The Expendables move forward.  That is exactly why the enlistment of Con Air director Simon West was heralded by many and today we are realizing the big move paid off.

Initial reviews label The Expendables 2 as fun, exactly what you would expect, and better than the first one.  While issues still reside in the fact that it is more of a 90′s action parody than anything else, many believe that the franchise finally delivered on a suitable ensemble piece that can be appealing to anyone who can get around that it is not going to be an award-winning piece of art.

Nothing brings that point home more than some of the positive reviews which claim this is an awful film.  Those are the positive reviews.  I would bet that the one-liners and constant action will be enough to entertain the inner-fanboy in us all to the point where this is a tolerable offering.  It might even be good enough for most theater goers to consider lining up for again in two years.

Rotten Tomatoes currently pegs this movie at about 59% after 37 reviews.  While not exactly a vote of confidence, this is better than The Bourne Legacy and Total Recall which opened up earlier this month.
