Nicolas Cage Signs On For ‘Expendables 3,’ Harrison Ford & Clint Eastwood Offered Parts

Despite the fact that many theatergoers did not care much for The Expendables, tracking is pretty stellar for the follow-up which includes the additions of Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger in slightly larger roles.  Of course, that means one thing:  It is time to get the wheels going for The Expendables III.  Why not?  The next one comes out at the end of the week and an assuredly profitable sequel demands a follow-up in today’s age.  The only question is who could they possibly add to make thing even more 90′s-awesome.

According to an interview Producer Avi Lerner did with Total Film, the producer threw out the game plan fairly effortlessly.  He stated that Nicolas Cage has already signed on, but that is not all.  Apparently, there is a desire to cast Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, and even Clint Eastwood.  Furthermore, they want to bring back Mickey Rourke who sat out The Expendables 2.

All of these would be pretty big deals, but I am willing to bet that Clint Eastwood caught most everyone’s eyes as it definitely appears to be the least probable.  Ford might be willing as his starring days are over; however, Eastwood is a legit director now with some serious Hollywood street cred.  Would he be so willing to give that up for maybe a month to remind the world that he used to be Dirty Harry.  That would almost be too spectacular a result and when things seem that implausible, they likely are.

Oh, on the Wesley Snipes deal, they want him after he is out of prison for tax evasion.  This will likely be his first gig back in the world as release is scheduled for July 19, 2013.  An August 2014 theatrical bow is widely expected should The Expendables 3 become ‘a thing.’  What will determine that is the box office results come Friday.
