Staying busy as always, Ryan Reynolds has added yet another project to his jam-packed slate. This one is called Queen of the Night and it is a psychological thriller from Devil’s Knot director Atom Egoyan. The project will have the Green Lantern star playing a father that discovers a series of disturbing clues several years after his daughter is abducted, making him believe that she might still be alive.
While the director had many positive things to say about Reynolds, he did mention specifically his work in Safe House and Buried which are the actor’s latest thrillers. These types of roles seem to be his bread and butter, so I completely understand what Egoyan is saying. It is a shame parts like this are not exactly growing off trees because Reynolds would probably own the genre as opposed to be forced into sputtering inside the realms of comedy and actioners.
According to Deadline, Egoyan wrote the script for Queen of the Night with David Fraser. Shooting will begin in February.
It will be interesting to see how it fits into Reynold’s schedule as it was recently announced that he would be starring in the upcoming Juan Carlos Fresnadillo-directed Highlander reboot. He also has a date with the indie drama Big Eyes alongside Reese Witherspoon, but those types of films do not take long to produce so we might as well just assume the real obstacle is Highlander from Summit.
