There is a brand new trailer out for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Do not get too excited though as the new footage is literally about five seconds in total divided between three separate glimpses. Still it is new, so it has our attention as anything The Hobbit should get respect considering it will likely dominate the December box office.
The Hobbit’s stars include include Luke Evans, Elijah Wood, Martin Freeman, Cate Blanchett, Evangeline Lilly, Ian Holm, Orlando Bloom, Hugo Weaving, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Christopher Lee, and Billy Connolly. An Unexpected Journey releases into theaters nationwide on December 14, 2012.
Just to recap the past month’s news on The Hobbit for those who have not been paying attention, Peter Jackson has revealed that the J.R.R. Tolkien novel will now be split into three films a few weeks following the announcement of the end of principal photography. This will happen due to an inordinate amount of extra footage and the director’s desire to add scenes to the movie based on the author’s unpublished appendices. There is currently no officially word on the new name for the series’ third installment, but speculators suggest The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, The Hobbit: Riddles in the Dark, and The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies based on domain registrations by New Line Cinema.
