Steve Harvey Explains His People-First Talk Show on ‘Today’

While all the daytime hubbub seems to be circulating around Katie Couric’s upcoming foray into talk shows, there is another big entrant this year via Think Like a Man author and movie producer Steve Harvey.  Being a ‘King of Comedy,’ one would expect his offering to feature the same old shtick with celebrity shout outs and a run of the mill bridge segment prior to their appearances, but it would certainly appear as if Steve Harvey intends on breaking the mold.

His show aims to be more Dr. Phil and Oprah than anything else with real people with real problems.  This is fairly fascinating because Anderson Cooper just tried that and had to retool for the second season of Anderson to a different format.  Hopefully, things will go a lot better for Harvey.  The comedian took to The Today Show on Wednesday morning to promote the premiere which is slated for September 4.  Check your local listings as Steve Harvey is a syndicated program.
