Will Ferrell & Steve Carell to Reteam for ‘Tropic Thunder’ Writer’s ‘Swear to God’

On the eve of the release of Will Ferrell’s latest comedy The Campaign, we already have another project lined up for the actor as some breaking news tonight says that he will be reuniting with his Anchorman co-star Steve Carell for a new film.  The project is called Swear to God and it is a comedy that will be written and directed by Justin Theroux–a man who does it all.

The actor-writer-director most recently wrote Rock of Ages and Iron Man 2 as well as Tropic Thunder, giving us every bit of confidence in the world that he can make this work.  The man is also assumed to be the director to Zoolander 2 which has been stuck in developmental hell as the script does not appear to be there just yet.

Producing will be Ferrell’s banner Gary Sanchez Productions.  The former SNL player will star as a narcissistic hedge fund manager who thinks he has seen god.  This project was originally written by Due Date writers Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland, so it will largely be a rewrite on Theroux’s part.  Who are we kidding though?  The two stars will probably end up improving the entire thing and it will be great.

According to Deadline, Carell and Farrell will hop to shoot this film together right after production wraps on Anchorman 2 which is slated to hit theaters sometime next year.
