Ewan McGregor continues to keep busy. The actor just picked up a part in August: Osage County from The Weinstein Company. He will be filling the shoes of Julia Roberts’ estranged husband Bill Fordham who is a college professor that left his wife for one of his students. Ultimately, this should prove to be a good addition to a cast that also includes Meryl Streep, Benedict Cumberbatch, Abigail Breslin, and Chris Cooper with George Clooney behind-the-camera producing this John Wells-directed film.
This really is another decent role for the actor that never quite made it to blockbuster starring status full-time. We most recently saw McGregor in Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire and the dramedy Salmon Fishing in Yemen, but it is worth the quick mention that he will finally appear in another big movie next year by the name of Jack the Giant Killer. The Bryan Singer-helmed pic was originally set to release this year (you may remember the trailers,) but it received a delay to presumably bolster the movie’s special effects.
McGregor’s next film will not be the blockbuster though as the actor can also be seen in Lionsgate’s December release The Impossible. This is a thriller about a family caught in the aftermath of the South Asian Tsunami of 2004 that also stars Naomi Watts.
