There has been a whole lot of hype, wonder, and speculation surrounding the RoboCop update from director Jose Padilha; however, most sentiment has been gravitating to the side of skepticism after news surfaced of a plot strangely reminiscent of the Marvel Studios film Iron Man with Afghanistan-based origins. Sure, the title character is not exactly the genius who creates his uniform (that gig goes to Gary Oldman,) but it is hard to imagine that any suit would look dramatically different from the one belonging to Tony Stark. That said, we get our first look at the fatigues thanks to Coming Soon.
This is a fascinating look very much like the description that we have been hearing. The Killing actor Joel Kinnaman (who will be filling the title role) has told the press in the past that there would be a ‘visor’ that shows more face. While today’s image shows us approximately the same amount of face as the hero’s retro outfit, if you look closely you can tell that the dark visor is a bit transparent. How much they fix that in post is anyone’s guess, but it would be a good bet to assume it will look different on the big screen. Aside from that, it is worth noting that the body armor appears a lot more like Batman than Iron Man. Good Call.
