It looks like Jason Biggs has some high-profile work outside of American Pie Reunion for this decade after all. The actor has just joined one of a handful of new Netflix exclusive programs as Weeds creator Jenji Kohan enlisted him for Orange Is the New Black.
THR is reporting that the actor will play the fiance to the lead–a drug-linked woman named Piper who ends up in prison (thus the title.) That role will be played by Mercy alumna Taylor Schilling whose credits also include The Lucky One and the yet-to-release Argo.
The show will be a one-hour dramedy based on a memoir by Piper Kerman about her year in women’s prison. Writing the adaptation will be Kohan who just finished the eight-year run of Showtime’s Weeds. Since this thing is still getting off the ground, it would appear as if the effort will land on the streamer sometime after other Netflix exclusives David Fincher’s House of Cards, Eli Roth’s Hemlock Grove, and Arrested Development season four. A second season of Lilyhammer (the service’s first foray into original scripted content) is also in the works.
