Many of those who attended the recent Expendables sequel left the theater thinking there should have been more Stallone-Schwarzenegger stuff. Lucky for them, they have their chance to watch the two side-by-side once again in Mikael Hafstrom’s The Tomb. The film will have the two action stars cast alongside each other in a story revolving around Stallone’s wrongful incarceration inside of a top-notch prison he actually helped build.
The reason this movie is back in the news today is because Lionsgate has finally dated the film for September 27, 2013. Not exactly a vote of confidence, it will definitely drive some people to theaters in a month typically reserved for soft serve offerings. On that note, the date looks bizarrely busy as the weekend will also feature the release of Brad Furman’s Ben Affleck/Justin Timberlake-starrer Runner Runner as well as the Robert Luketic thriller Paranoia with Liam Hemsworth and Gary Oldman.
Of course, this is not exactly your next shot at seeing either leading man. The next Stallone film on deck is Bullet to the Head which bows in February whereas Arnold Schwarzenegger’s next solo effort entitled The Last Stand is due out in January.
