Ethan Hawke has a new horror film coming out–one of the many genre offerings this fall. This one is called Sinister and the Scott Derrikson-directed film has the Oscar nominee playing a true crime novelist moving his family to a house where a horrific murder took place. He eventually gets clued into the notion that there may be a supernatural entity in his new home when he discovers an old box of home video tapes.
It is fairly interesting that such a premise would exist because it somehow wraps the tired found-footage premise into a film not like that all. Really, it would seem like instinct to get as far away from that as possible, but then again familiarity often breads success. What you are about to see though is extremely creep suggesting this story paid dividends as far as the genre is concerned.
Stars of the film include Ethan Hawke, Juliet Rylance and James Ransone. Sinister releases into theaters on October 12.
