Late this afternoon, Jon Turteltaub’s Last Vegas received a release date. The comedy about four old friends having a last hurrah so to speak in Las Vegas will be bowing on December 20, 2013. This offering casts Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline and has drawn comparisons to The Hangover; however, any similarities outside of backdrop and overall setting seem a little doubtful as the script comes from Crazy, Stupid, Love writer Dan Fogelman.
As for competition on the date, it will be forced to do battle with The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug as well as Paramount’s Jack Ryan reboot starring Chris Pine. With that in mind, the slate for the holiday period still seems open for one or two more offerings, so do not be shocked if those come soon as the 2013 calendar year is mostly set when it comes to major releases.
