Two months ago, it was announced the Ryan Reynolds would be joining Atom Egoyan’s psychological thriller Queen of the Night and today we are hearing the actor is ‘circling’ a like-genre’d project. The film at the center of today’s story is called The Voices from director Marjane Satrapi and Paranormal Activity scribe Michael R. Perry.
If Reynolds climbs on board, he will play Jerry Hickfang, a factory worker trying to gain the attention of a female co-worker. The thriller aspect of all this is what has been described as a “murderous turn.” Oh, and it should be noted that his character has an evil cat and benevolent dog who both have a firm grasp on the English language.
While this seems somewhat weird, it is also the exact sort of role that Reynolds needs at this point in his career. He has tried the blockbuster thing, but he may have found his niche in these smaller scale psychological thrillers after the success of Safe House back in February.
The actor can next be seen in the action comedy R.I.P.D. in July 2013 alongside Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, and Mary-Louise Parker.
