We knew that Sony was hot on making the Bond film’s closer together, but this is bound to be a little too Quantum of Solace-like for those of us who think the recent delay helped make the franchise better. Naturally, this is a studio who would prefer to print money, not waste momentum, and also milk their leading man before he ages out. That said, we take a look at today’s news that has Bond 24 on track for fall 2014 where it will replace its November rival Twilight with the third Hunger Games movie.
Details at this time are scarce as they are expected to be so; however, we do know that screen writer John Logan will be returning to the franchise after drafting Skyfall. The big question will undoubtedly be whether or not Sam Mendes can somehow be lured back as he has been accredited with much of the love we are seeing with the latest Bond film. This director has done more serious fare (American Beauty, Road to Perdition) for a while as opposed to actioners, so the question would most likely be whether or not he is bored with the tentpole.
Keep on looking for details as a rush-to-production, two-year layover often means information arrives in a hurry. The director will need to be set within a few months considering the scope of this franchise’s film, so we look forward to that. Today’s story comes courtesy of UK Daily Mail which typically is a tabloid outlet, but this news validates earlier information on the topic of Skyfall’s follow-up thus why people believe it.
Skyfall hits theaters nationwide on November 9.
Update: Deadline says that this is indeed the case, and they add that Logan will likely write the next TWO Bond films.
