There is an update to report tonight on a story that has been making the rounds since Monday. Tom Cruise has been eyeing a time travel flick called Our Name Is Adam, and it was not quite clear whether the actor or even the studio behind it was serious about the project thus the second tier status of such reports. We now know courtesy of Deadline that Paramount is indeed prepared to make this flick as Cruise is more than just toying with the project.
Our Name Is Adam has the actor traveling back in time to meet his former self (cue Looper comparisons) which is all we know at the current moment in regards to plot. T.S. Nowlin scripted the effort that is apparently really good because it is also being said that Paramount does not want this one to get away from them. Would you see Looper with Tom Cruise? That was a trick question because the answer is obviously yes.
This becomes the latest blockbuster film to be added to Cruise’s packed slate. The actor has kept busy ever since the surge in demand he experienced after Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol hit theaters late last year. Outside of Rock of Ages, he has chosen very big pics including two sci-fi projects in the form of Oblivion and All You Need Is Kill as well as a Top Gun sequel. While Top Gun 2 may be placed on the back burner following the unexpected death of director Tony Scott, the actor is also reportedly signed on for a Van Helsing reboot which is currently looking for a director.
