Just one month ago, Sony quietly delayed the releases of two of their future tent poles, RoboCop and Elysium. Of the two, people seemed to care more about the one with the cyborg police office from Detroit; however, those covering these movies can point out to you that it is actually the other one that shows the most promise.
Elysium stars Matt Damon in a dystopian future where he is forced to bridge class divides in order to save his life, in the process bringing equality to all. Jodie Foster is in this one too, but that is not why people are hot on this project. It is more so because District 9 helmer Neill Blomkamp directed this project and we all know what he is capable of on a shoestring budget. This time he was given some money and an A-list actor to play with which is very exciting to say the least.
Elysium releases into theaters on August 9, 2013.
