Jamie Foxx in Talks to Play Villain in Next Spider-Man Movie, Probably Electro

Jamie Foxx is suddenly in high demand again.  After wow-ing audiences last decade in Collateral and Ray, he has not exactly been living up to the hype outside of his stellar cameo in Horrible Bosses.  Now, that is all about to change with Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained which gives Foxx the title role in what aims to be an even bigger movie than Inglourious Basterds was three years prior.

Following that will be another big flick in the form of Roland Emmerich’s White House Down starring Channing Tatum as a Secret Service agent seeking to recapture the White House after it comes under attack.  Jamie Foxx will play a fairly major role in the blockbuster action film via the President of the United States.  That’s all good, but what comes next?

Today were are hearing that the singer-comic-actor is currently in talks to play an unspecified villain in the Marc Webb-directed Amazing Spider-Man sequel which is currently casting up.  Variety says he would play Electro which instantly validates everything fans of this past summer’s outing have been saying about the mid-credits teaser.  More confirmatin of this comes via Jamie Foxx on Twitter (who could always just be trolling.)

This is the second major piece of casting news regarding the next Spider-Man movie as it was recently confirmed that Descendants actress Shailene Woodley was offered the part to play Mary Jane Watson.  It was later specified this would be a fairly small piece of the films in the interim with plans to expand the role later.  Those familiar with the Spider-Man plot that the series’ producers are currently following will get why this is the case.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters nationwide on May 2, 2014.
