Just a reminder, the weekend starts early headed into the crowded holiday lineup with two new films releasing today. Monsters, Inc 3D and The Guilt Trip are already vying for families’ Christmas cash and Jack Reacher will arrive in less than 48 hours. Some are suggesting Tom Cruise’s latest will flop hard, but this is a pretty capable action film so we are not exactly set on counting the action star out of the conversation just yet.
The competition he must face comes out on Tuesday in the form of Les Miserables and Django Unchained. Both films are considered to be major award contenders and are each heavily anticipated by their own audiences. Of the two, Les Miserables is considered to be tracking a lot better in advance, but that information comes from online ticket brokers Movie Tickets and Fandango which only represents a small segment of the movie industry.
This Is 40 and Parental Guidance also are hitting theaters within the next week as well with releases scheduled for Friday and Tuesday respectably.
Check back for results throughout the next few weekends as business will definitely be booming at the box office.
