It was seven months ago when we last heard of a Bored to Death movie in development, and now we have finally received an update suggesting the pic could be happening after all. HBO is apparently hard at work on crafting a big screen reunion for Zach Galifianakis, Ted Danson, and Jason Swartzman that would have the three reprising their roles.
The man responsible for creating the HBO comedy, Jonathan Ames, is already writing the script for a film with the following logline: “”Jonathan, Ray, and George reunite to fight crime, commit crime, lose their minds, and fail-at-love in a Bored to Death feature-length slapstick adventure.”
Details outside of that are still slim, but we certainly are going to be watching this one more and more as Zach Galifianakis will be looking for theatrical life after The Hangover which concludes its trilogy this May.
Just to recap the show’s ratings efficiency, this was yet another sad story in HBO’s failure to gain ground in the comedy arena following Sex and the City. After premiering to 1 million, the half-hour series lost 75% of that by time the third season rolled around thus its cancellation.
