Dustin Hoffman and Kathryn Bigelow each were on The Colbert Report last night, making for an exceptionally bloated telecast–not that we are complaining here. Each appearance was pretty decent on their own (particularly the latter,) but in different ways. Bigelow’s interview had a lot to do with the politics of her movie in that some people in Congress suspect the director gleaned information from CIA sources that she was not entitled to, and she is a little bit spooked by the whole thing. Colbert, having gone to Washington himself, gave some advice should she ever get called in to testify.
As far as the Hoffman segment goes, that was a straight up promo job for his latest directorial vehicle Quartet which is now playing at limited locations. Promotion is low for this one, but reviews are great so go see the movie if you are up for a dramedy about aging musicians.
Zero Dark Thirty is now playing in theaters nationwide.
