And Warcraft: The Movie finally has a director…again! THR landed the exclusive this evening that Duncan Jones will be helming the blockbuster-sized effort which is being developed at Legendary Pictures for Warner Bros. distribution. The script being used was written by Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond) which brings us to our next headline: Legendary has finally found a blue print worthy of translating to the big screen for the mega-franchise that has dominated the PC gaming landscape for much of the past decade.
If you do not know who Duncan Jones is, you are not alone. He certainly is not a Sam Raimi (who was originally set to direct the pic before moving to Oz,) but he does have a credit on Moon and more recently the Jake Gyllenhaal-starrer Source Code which featured the Brokeback Mountain star reliving the same terrorist attack over and over again in an attempt to prevent another. Both projects were well received with each finding achieving 90% scores on Rotten Tomatoes, but there does exist a sizable divide in budgets, thus presenting the likelihood that something could get lost in translation.
Warcraft is being eyed for a 2015 release.
