TV Ad Campaign Begins for ‘Oz the Great and Powerful’

Oz the Great and PowerfulDisney is betting big on their first major blockbuster tentpole of 2013.  In addition to laying down $200 million on production costs alone for Oz the Great and Powerful, the Mouse House is planning a huge marketing push on the effort to help generate awareness which is bound to push the breakeven point on this picture to $500-600 million worldwide.  Nonetheless, the television campaign has already ramped up as many have already noticed from the New Year’s teasers, and the 30-second spots are beginning to make it to air 60 days prior to release.  Here is the first look with a very limited degree of new footage if any.  There does appear to be some added stuff although that might be difficult to point out.  The full-length trailer for comparative purposes is linked below today’s footage.

Stars of the film includes James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff, and Abigail Spencer.  Oz the Great and Powerful releases into theaters on March 8, 2013.
