Another day, another movie added to Colin Farrell’s busy schedule. Today’s headline has the Total Recall actor joining the serial killer thriller Solace alongside Anthony Hopkins. The role will be that of the principal antagonist. Hopkins, who is coming off of portraying the title character in Hitchcock, has been tasked with playing the doctor who will inevitably put an end to the spree. Directing will be Two Rabbits’ Afonso Poyart from a script by Sean Bailey, Ted Griffin, James Vanderbilt and Peter Morgan.
In details related to the plot, there is an FBI detective (who is yet to be cast) working on this case to bring the serial killer (Farrell) to justice. He eventually resorts to bringing Hopkin’s reclusive character back into the hunt as he has previously shown a talent at solving such cases. The doctor is understandably reluctant as his own daughter’s tragic demise forces him into early retirement. This is very much your classic ‘one more time’ type of setup.
Farrell will be making this one of his next films which also includes the big screen adaptation of Miss Julie starring Jessica Chastain. The actor recently wrapped shooting on Winter’s Tale and Saving Mr. Banks, and he can next be see in Dead Man Down alongside Noomi Rapace. That movie lands in theaters on March 8.
