There is word tonight of a new sci-fi project in development from The Good Night’s Jake Paltrow called Young Ones. While we are not too familiar with the director/writer, it is worth noting because who he attached to front the feature. Variety reports that Michael Shannon (Man of Steel,) Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies,) and Elle Fanning (Maleficent) have just joined up.
The film will be set against a dystopian future where water is scarce. Its story has a “14-year-old forced to use his wits to survive.” Things look set up for relative unknown Kodi Smit-McPhee to play the central role; however, it remains unclear at this time where the rest of the cast will fall. We look forward to hearing more on the project soon particularly due to the involvement of up-and-comer Nicholas Hoult and Boardwalk Empire fan favorite Michael Shannon.
Nicholas Hoult is easily the highest profile of the bunch with the release of Warm Bodies netting $20 million during Super Bowl weekend. The actor will not have much of a victory lap as he is expected to rejoin the press circuit to promote Jack the Giant Slayer which opens in theaters on March 1.
