Noticeably absent from this year’s Super Bowl ads was one for the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The movie was supposed to be released by Paramount last June, but was suddenly delayed for a 3D conversion. It later came out that the ‘needs more Channing Tatum’ rumors were not true, but audiences are still on the fence which put the studio in a funk. They already blew their marketing budget out of the water (last year’s “Big Game” spot cost over $3 million,) and they really have no new stuff to show. Fortunately, someone decided to take a page out of the book of other films which run on shoe-string marketing efforts by creating something viral. Today, we get our first look at the Cobra campaign. Hit the jump for some video and two new posters for Retaliation.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation hits theaters nationwide on March 28. The film stars Bruce Willis, Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, Adrianne Palicki, and RZA.
