Surprise, surprise. Here is something we did not see coming. Dwayne Johnson has reportedly been promised a spin-off from the Fast and Furious franchise. The revelation came out during an interview with Empire for his latest film G.I. Joe Retaliation where he said the following: “[We could see the Hobbs movie] possibly after this one, after the next one. Possibly. I’m not quite too sure, I know that’s the goal and we continue to build that character and have him take shape. But yes, I can’t wait.”
The footage of their junket interview lies after the jump, but let’s quickly clear up what he is saying…or at least rephrase it for fanboy nation. A Luke Hobbs standalone picture is planned for either after Fast and Furious 6 or Fast and Furious 7. The safe money is the latter considering how busy Johnson has been lately, but you never truly know until it is confirmed.
Fast and Furious 6 hits theaters on May 24.
