It looks like we have a bit of Jim Parsons news to share with you today. Deadline has just reported this afternoon that the Big Bang Theory star will be joining Ryan Murphy’s made-for-television movie The Normal Heart along with Friday Night Lights alum Taylor Kitsch. The movie is based on a Larry Kramer play by the same name that tackles the start of the HIV-AIDS crisis in the early 1980′s.
Parson’s role in all this will be that of gay activist Tommy Boatwright–a role that the actor himself played in the story’s 2011 revival. As for his John Carter co-star, Kitsch’s role will be that of closeted investment banker Bruce Niles. The two join a cast that already includes Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo and Matt Bomer.
HBO Films is backing The Normal Heart which will premiere in 2014.
