Much has been said about the success story of Identity Thief and what it might possible mean for Melissa McCarthy, but how about Jason Bateman? Well, apparently the actor is attached to Shawn Levy’s This Is Where I Leave You opposite Tina Fey. This will be yet another film added to the 30 Rock producer’s post-sitcom slate as well, so this really is a double-sided story we are dealing with today.
For Fey, the shoot will immediately follow her part in The Muppets…Again! which is currently filming. According to THR, several names wanted this role as Ari Graynor, Isla Fisher, Zoe Saldana and Mary Elizabeth Winstead each read against Bateman. It is unclear if Fey had to subject herself to the studio treatment on this one; however, one would imagine she was given the gig based on recognition alone.
Now, as for the actress’ response to whether she will host the Oscars next year, a lot has been written about that. Fey has said on two separate occasions already that she is in no way interested in hosting the Academy Awards. That said, the search for the MC does not get off the ground until the summer at which point the SNL alumna could change her mind and end up doing it with Amy Poehler as the world hopes. For those of us who follow this type of news often, you may recall that most hosts are reluctant so all that can change in time.
Fey’s next film comes out later this month called Admissions. She plays a Princeton admissions officer opposite Paul Rudd.
