Ellen: Keira Knightley’s Latest ‘Anna Karenina’ Promotion Turns Into Weird Bridal Tea Party

Keira Knightley stopped by Ellen today for a little more press on Anna Karenina to follow-up to her Leno appearance Tuesday night.  This interview was extra special not because of the discussion of how photographers like to give her fake breasts from time to time, but because she talked about her complete lack of any real wedding knowledge.  After becoming engaged, she ended up on the internet where the actress learned about bridal tea parties which of course led to a bit of mockery thanks to Ellen Degeneres.  Observe. Keira Knightley Plugs ‘Anna Karenina’ on ‘Jay Leno’

Keira Knightley’s latest collaboration with director Joe Wright is about to hit theaters this coming Friday.  Starting with a limited release, Anna Karenina is very much your classic Oscar bait complete with a screenplay by Tom Stoppard.  While reviews are not exactly favorable to any such award play, the movie is still expected to make bank in overseas markets and domestically as well.  That said, we take a look at the Jack Ryan star’s latest promotional appearance–this one on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Three New Character Posters for ‘Anna Karenina’

There are three pretty beautiful looking posters to show off today for Joe Wright’s upcoming adaptation of Anna Karenina.  The film starring Jude Law, Keira Knightley, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a period piece against the backdrop of Russian aristocracy in the nineteenth century.  While Leo Tolstoy wrote the novel, Academy Award-winner Tom Stoppard did his best to put his story on the big screen yet again and from what people are saying out of the effort’s Venice Film Festival premiere, the movie appears to be a winner.

The following is a set of character posters with each of the film’s leads featured prominently.  Keira Knightley plays the title role with Aaron Johnson as Count Vronsky and Jude Law as Alexei Karenin.  Additional parts of note go to Kelly MacDonald (Boardwalk Empire) and Olivia Williams (Hyde Park on Hudson.) ‘Anna Karenina’ Shifts Release to November 16

One of the award contenders this year is more than likely going to be Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina.  The Tolstoy novel adapted for the big screen by Academy Award winning scribe Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love) will act as the third teaming between Wright and Keira Knightley who previously worked together on Atonement and Pride & Prejudice—both of which were critical gems that scored respectable global box office performances.

Perhaps that is why we suddenly feel compelled to mention today that the film has been pushed to November 16 off of its original date November 9.  Really, this is no big deal at all, but obviously when a studio moves things around it is for good reason and that is mostly due to competition from Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln and the 23rd Bond film entitled SkyfallContinue Reading

Keira Knightley, Jude Law Explain ‘Anna Karenina’ in Latest Featurette

One of the more sure fire bets to play big during award season this year is Anna Karenina.  This will be director Joe Wright’s third pairing with Keira Knightley, but perhaps the biggest omen of success comes with the knowledge that Shakespeare in Love scribe Tom Stoppard has adapted the Tolstoy novel.  Regardless of whether this will be perceived as a bankable package, that is enough to get most industry watchers to pay attention.

Today brings with it a new featurette for the film that explains a little about the story for those unfamiliar with it.  Essentially, the late-19th-century period piece doubles at a satirical jab at Russia’s high-society and an aristocracy envious of Western Europe, but that is merely the backdrop.  The actual plot centers on Anna Karenina (Keira Knightley) and her love affair with Count Vronsky (Aaron Johnson.)
