‘Breaking Bad’ Set to Begin Final Run in August 2013

breaking badWell, this is a bit disappointing. AMC has revealed their future development slate today, and it would appear that the basic cable network is not going to premiere the final eight episodes of Breaking Bad until August. This is a full month after we expected the show to return and a long time removed from its time slot of yesteryear in the spring. Remember when the show was on in the spring? That is all done and gone which leaves us with a bit of a delay during which we can fawn over the network’s other programming. All of that is after the jump including details on a scripted sci-fi drama from Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski titled Ballistic City. Continue Reading

Colbert Report: ‘Breaking Bad’ Producer Dishes on Show’s Final Season

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan took to The Colbert Report last night, and no, it is not to drum up buzz for an imminent return of the beloved AMC drama.  He was most likely on the show because the host is a fan like most people in the industry which is certainly fine by us.  The night’s appearance served as a little debriefing in regards to the progress being made on the show’s final eight episodes.

Gilligan confirmed the plan is for a Summer 2013 runoff to the series’ conclusion and that things will end badly for these characters.  He alluded to this being a possibility before, but now it would appear this has moved on to an inevitability.  To back up that sentiment, the showrunner just informed the audience that writing is already underway meaning he has some semblance of what is going to happen. ‘Breaking Bad’ Creator Vince Gilligan Interviewed On ‘Conan’

Since his move to TBS, Conan O’Brien has become somewhat of a champion of cable programming.  While this was not really surprising considering he was now a member of the Turner Broadcasting family, it was a bit shocking that he would extend out invites to actors who are not your typical talk show guests that reside in the depths of the channel lineup.

That said, he felt compelled to bring in the showrunner of Breaking Bad Vince Gilligan on the program last night mostly because his fandom of the Emmy-winning program.  Topics of conversation included the series’ origins and of course writing these characters into corners.  Apparently, there are a whole lot of times where they simply do not have a set plan and end up screwing the pooch a little to the point where they think they will have to go back and rework some stuff.
