Well, this is a bit disappointing. AMC has revealed their future development slate today, and it would appear that the basic cable network is not going to premiere the final eight episodes of Breaking Bad until August. This is a full month after we expected the show to return and a long time removed from its time slot of yesteryear in the spring. Remember when the show was on in the spring? That is all done and gone which leaves us with a bit of a delay during which we can fawn over the network’s other programming. All of that is after the jump including details on a scripted sci-fi drama from Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski titled Ballistic City. Continue Reading
Not necessarily rivals as Breaking Bad now airs on Sundays during the summer months, the long-running animated series The Simpsons has decided to pay homage to the meth-peddling series. This is the second such AMC-generated nod from everyone’s favorite four-fingered family as they famously showed respects to Mad Men a few seasons ago. Continue Reading
Giancarlo Esposito showed up on the talk show circuit last night. The actor was on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote the on-going first season of Revolution. Ratings are down despite its Voice lead-in, but it is expected to return next season. For those of you who do not watch the show, just think of this appearance as a chance to see Gus Fring who was killed off of Breaking Bad nearly two summers ago. Continue Reading
AMC is not one for the trailer reveal, but that is okay because we are more than happy to gawk at the cable network’s first behind-the-scenes look at Breaking Bad season 5.5. This summer will mark the end of the end for the meth-dealing series, thus giving Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, and other cast members the opportunity to taunt us with what they know and we do not. Hit the jump for the view if blue magic is your thing. Continue Reading
The many who felt short-changed on AMC’s decision to split Breaking Bad’s fifth season in half will be pleased to know that a date has been set for the series’ return. Emmy-winning actor Aaron Paul broke the news on Twitter late Thursday night that the drama will begin its final run on July 14. That is about when we expected the mid-season premiere to land as it stands roughly a year away from last year’s debut. Chances are the network did not want to mess with success as the show managed to hit series highs throughout the first eight installments of its final order. Continue Reading
It is not quite enough to parody television shows by themselves anymore as that has been done to death. We are talking to you Jimmy Fallon as you previously ran installments of a show called Downton Sixby. Thankfully, Stephen Colbert stepped up and combined the critically-acclaimed series Downton Abbey with AMC’s Breaking Bad–a show that deals heavily with the manufacture and distribution of meth. Here is the end result. Enjoy. Continue Reading
Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan took to The Colbert Report last night, and no, it is not to drum up buzz for an imminent return of the beloved AMC drama. He was most likely on the show because the host is a fan like most people in the industry which is certainly fine by us. The night’s appearance served as a little debriefing in regards to the progress being made on the show’s final eight episodes.
Gilligan confirmed the plan is for a Summer 2013 runoff to the series’ conclusion and that things will end badly for these characters. He alluded to this being a possibility before, but now it would appear this has moved on to an inevitability. To back up that sentiment, the showrunner just informed the audience that writing is already underway meaning he has some semblance of what is going to happen. Continue Reading
In today’s best ‘not so big, but amusing’ story we are hearing that Breaking Bad’s Mike Ehrmentraut actor Jonathan Banks has been tapped for a guest spot on Parks & Recreation. Interestingly enough, the actor is on board to play none other than Adam Scott’s father which means if things go well the former dramatic actor could end up recurring on one of television’s best comedies. Continue Reading
Breaking Bad looks to be done for the year half way through its fifth season as that the mid-season finale is slated to air next Sunday. The episode is titled Gliding All Over and presumably it will still manage tie a neat bow on things considering Vince Gilligan and Co. knew AMC’s plan to split the show’s final run ahead of time. Take a quick view on what promises to be one heck of an episode. Continue Reading
There are only two more episodes left for the current fifth season run of Breaking Bad. The penultimate outing airing next week continues to highlight Walt’s rise to power as a legitimate meth kingpin and is called Say My Name. Check out the advance clip AMC put out tonight following the conclusion of Buyout. It basically shows that Walter White’s plan is to probably lead the rival meth organization. Continue Reading
Over half the current year’s run of Breaking Bad is now over, yet there are still three episodes left to air. Next week’s outing is called Buyout. This one is said to deal with Walter White being a little upset over the distribution of profits which might allude to the title being more of a reality than any assumed theme. You can catch it when it airs on Sunday, August 19. For now, here is a sneak preview to promote the drama’s follow-up to Dead Freight. Continue Reading
Since his move to TBS, Conan O’Brien has become somewhat of a champion of cable programming. While this was not really surprising considering he was now a member of the Turner Broadcasting family, it was a bit shocking that he would extend out invites to actors who are not your typical talk show guests that reside in the depths of the channel lineup.
That said, he felt compelled to bring in the showrunner of Breaking Bad Vince Gilligan on the program last night mostly because his fandom of the Emmy-winning program. Topics of conversation included the series’ origins and of course writing these characters into corners. Apparently, there are a whole lot of times where they simply do not have a set plan and end up screwing the pooch a little to the point where they think they will have to go back and rework some stuff. The next new episode of Breaking Bad will air on August 12. Under the title Dead Freight, it aims to be one of the most ambitious episodes of the entire series according to the show’s star Bryan Cranston. That said, here is a new clip just released tonight to promote the Emmy-winning drama’s fifth outing of year. Continue Reading
A sneak preview has just been released for the next new episode of Breaking Bad. This one will be called Fifty-One and you will see why in a minute. The episode looks to center around Walter White’s 51st birthday which is just one year before the opening to the season just three weeks ago. While technically we already knew that, the whole bacon thing really should make that scene a whole lot better. Continue Reading
