By Jeff Rosz | May 10th, 2013 Two days ago, it was CNN’s wildly unnecessary split screen. Yesterday, it was Nancy Grace being…Nancy Grace. The Daily Show took on the news network’s judicial correspondent Thursday night, and here is the footage. Continue Reading
By Jeff Rosz | May 9th, 2013 The Daily Show seems to hit on the same notes night after night (not that we would complain about the successful strategy.) Fox News idiocy, gun control, Congressional malfunction…There seems to have been a new entrant though in the cycle of Jon Stewart go-to segments in the past year: The downfall of CNN as a once respected news organization. Last time it was their Boston Bombings coverage, this time it was their unbelievably ridiculous split screen from literally six parking spots away. Continue Reading
By Jeff Rosz | April 23rd, 2013 Just last week, Jon Stewart was busting CNN’s chops for a false arrest headline they made during the Boston Marathon Bombings coverage, yet he was not done with the Ted Turner-spawned news organization after things came to a close. The Daily Show host complained some more last night at their polar opposite response following their accidental reporting flub and their knack for taking things into field more so than their rivals for no particular reason. Naturally, none of that mattered to viewers as the network still topped cable news in their coverage of the events, this according to some demo ratings released yesterday for Friday. Continue Reading
By Jeff Rosz | April 22nd, 2013 The ratings are out for the late night cable war Friday for eyeballs looking for Boston Manhunt coverage. Much to our surprise, CNN still topped the key demos despite its reporting flub earlier in the week. They are touting leadership among those 18-34 and 25-54 with their best nightly ratings since Election Day last November. Furthermore, it was the basic cable network’s most-watched coverage of anything non-political in a decade.
The average was 2.5 million viewers in primetime in the 25-54 demo and 1.0 million for those 18-34, only trailing to NBC’s 1.2 million among all of television in the category. However, it must be said that Fox News won overall as it snagged 6.0 million total viewers in primetime, roughly 600,000 more than “the most trusted name in news.” FNC’s 25-54 demo audience failed to crack 2 million, indicating a pretty sizable gap.
By Jeff Rosz | April 18th, 2013 Want to watch Jon Stewart talk some more smack about CNN? Well, you are in luck because that is exactly what he did last night as he railed on the cable news network’s hasty reporting in regards on the Boston Marathon Bombings. This is most interesting to the media because just a few days ago it was such a big deal to ‘get the story right’ and ‘learn from mistakes’ of doing such things with prior events. It looks like the Jeff Zucker-helmed channel did not get the memo though. Here is the footage from last night’s episode of TDS. Continue Reading
By Jeff Rosz | April 5th, 2013 It has been a few months since Jeff Zucker came into CNN, promising to turn the boat around but now the network seems more desperate than ever to maintain its already depressed ratings. After premiering The Point this week, many have reacted to his tenure thus far as a miserable failure and now the mainstream public is beginning to notice. The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart took on the changes, more specifically the channel’s newest program, and it was not too kind to say the least. Perhaps the funniest news regarding The Point he left out though as the show’s premiere episode this past Monday posted ratings half that of the typical Anderson 360 replay which typically airs in the spot. Ouch. Continue Reading
By Jeff Rosz | August 23rd, 2012 CNN’s continued revamp will now feature even more specialized programming. By that, I mean non-news as shocking as that may seem. The Ted Turner-spawned 24-hour news network is looking to attract more eyes to the cable channel by luring in documentary legend Morgan Spurlock who rose to fame with his 2004 hit film Super Size Me which featured the man living on nothing but McDonald’s for thirty days.
The series will be called Inside Man and it may remind a whole lot of you of his FX series called 30 Days. Its premise is that it will show the lives of ‘lesser-seen characters’ in American culture like pot growers, migrant farm workers, and caregivers. Of course, similar topics were covered in his previous television show which ran from 2005 to 2008. Continue Reading
By Jeff Rosz | June 29th, 2012 CNN and Fox News Channel messed up bad this week. The two cable news outlets each botched the result of the Supreme Court ruling concerning President Obama’s healthcare mandate despite following the news closely for weeks. Continue Reading

By Jeff Rosz | November 10th, 2011 Earlier tonight on his CNN talk show, Piers Morgan announced that last year was his last on NBC’s hit summer reality show, Americas Got Talent. The show is credited with making Morgan’s career here in the US, but in all fairness, he did put in six years. Continue Reading
By Jeff Rosz | September 24th, 2011 Morgan Freeman is causing quite the stir as he went on Pier Morgan this past week to promote his new film Dolphin Tale and ended up accusing Tea Partiers of racism. His beef? The stated overarching goal of TP’s to throw America under the bus for four years to get President Obama out of power. Continue Reading
By Jeff Rosz | August 18th, 2011 Piers Morgan was doing a pre-taped interview Christine O’Donnell when the former GOP senate candidate walked off after the talk show host refused to give her softball questions. He tackled some of the controversial aspects of Christine O’Donnell including her stance on gay marriage and witchcraft before O’Donnell exited. Continue Reading

By Jeff Rosz | July 18th, 2011 Despite its recent ratings woes, CNN has quietly created one of the most trafficked news websites in the Unite States. Alexa ranks them at #16 in the United States and #52 world wide, so it comes too no surprise that the first television network to stream fully online would be CNN. Continue Reading
By Jeff Rosz | July 5th, 2011 The internet is abuzz today about the Casey Anthony verdict. She was not found guilty of killing her child or child abuse, but was found guilty of lying to cops. Here is the video via CNN of the court reading of the verdict. Continue Reading
