‘Game of Thrones’ Cersei Actress Stars in New Movie Clip for ‘Dredd 3D’

Check out this new clip from the Judge Dredd reboot coming out next month.  It gives us a really close look at Ma-Ma who is the film’s central antagonist played by an artificially scarred Lena Headey.  Most of you may remember the actress from her role as the ruthless Cersei on HBO’s Game of Thrones.  She’s legitimately creepy in this, so her appearance alone is definitely worth the view.

Aside from Ma-Ma’s introduction, the following also manages to reinforce the plot of the Peter Travis-directed feature.  Essentially, Karl Urban’s Judge Dredd and a rookie judge (Olivia Thirlby) are tasked with bringing down a gang that deals with a reality-altering drug called SLO-MO. New ‘Dredd’ Featurette Explains Film’s Backdrop

There is a Dredd reboot coming our way in case you have not heard.  The Pete Travis adaptation of this franchise promises to be a lot more than the Stallonian version that hit theaters in the 90′s, but perhaps a refresher on the source material is in order here.  A new featurette has just hit the web this week to chronicle the film’s backdrop which is that of a violent, futuristic city that contains cops who have excess authority.

Things you will learn from this one is that Judge Dredd is considered a genre transcending piece and that it is about the environment more than any other element of the story.  While that is not exactly what you want to hear about a movie, it should surely have sci-fi fans taking a good long look this property. Judge Dredd Stands Amongst the Ruins in New ‘Dredd’ Poster

There is a brand new poster out for Lionsgate’s Dredd reboot that is worth a quick view.  Just to recap, the film is not anything major as it is set for a September release which should give it away, but this is the start of a potential low-budget trilogy.  The project’s writer Alex Garland went on the record saying last month that the movie needed to gross $50 million domestically in order to warrant a sequel for the Karl Urban-starrer.

In terms of setting, this is very much your classic R-rated Judge Dredd.  The backdrop is a fictional earth where police are now called judges and brutality is in their nature.  This Pete Travis-directed film casts Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey in supporting roles with the former playing a partner-like cadet named Judge Anderson.  Headey is the villainous lead Ma-Ma who is responsible for selling a reality-altering drug called Slo-Mo. Red-Band Movie Clip for ‘Dredd’ Starring Karl Urban

There is a heap of violence in what you are about to watch, so be advised if you have children around or consider yourself squeamish because Dredd is an R-rated feature and it shows.  That said, here is the debut clip of the Pete Travis-directed film starring Karl Urban which has Judge Dredd and his rookie partner (Olivia Thirlby) busting down a door and ruining the day of a handful of druggies.  The narcotic in question is a fictional one called slo-mo which slows everything down for the user, thus the way this particular scene was shot.
